The Global Hand Washing Day was celebrated in the schools in Amapara District on the 15th of October, 2010 with the sponsorship of UNICEF and active collaboration of GAFSO. The key celebrations, in which students of all three communities participated, were held in the Navodaya School in Serankada in the Zonal Education Division of Mayaoya. The Zonal Director of Education of Mahaoya and his officers, representatives of UNICEF, Executive Director of GAFSO Mr. I. Abdul Jabbar, the officer in charge of the World Food Programme and the Principals of all schools in Mahaoya graced this occasion with their presence.
